Lapmetry is telemetry, overlays and coaching for sim racing: a Windows app records every lap, the web cockpit makes it walkable, and a coach explains in plain sentences where the time is. Supported are Assetto Corsa, ACC, Le Mans Ultimate and Assetto Corsa EVO — in ten languages.

No — the desktop app runs entirely without an account and stores everything locally. An account is only needed for cloud sync, the web cockpit, community references and live sharing. The sync later catches up on everything driven offline.

Yes: the demo account opens a full web cockpit with 18 sample sessions — the “Try the demo” button on the login page is all it takes. The account is read-only, and its data feeds no statistics.

Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Le Mans Ultimate and Assetto Corsa EVO — the app detects a running sim automatically. Each sim is read directly through its shared memory, without third-party add-on plugins.

In LMU one switch has to be flipped: Settings → Gameplay → “Enable plugins”, then reload the session. Without that switch the LMU telemetry interface simply does not exist — you do not need an extra file, LMU has shipped it itself since version 1.2. The status in the app tells you directly when the switch is missing.

No — in both, the shared memory is active out of the box; there is nothing to set. Just start the sim and drive. For overlays in game, pick the borderless window mode.

Not publicly yet: the iRacing connection is technically prepared, but it will only be offered once it runs dependably. Announcing support that does not exist sells a promise instead of a product — and commercial use of iRacing additionally requires written permission, which is pending.

Not supported at the moment. The provider architecture is designed for more sims; but a sim is only promised once it runs.

Almost always the cause is exclusive fullscreen: it draws past the desktop — no overlay tool on earth can sit on top of it. Pick “borderless / windowed” in the sim; the performance difference these days is effectively none. And: Ctrl+Shift+O shows and hides all widgets — maybe they were just hidden.

No — the desktop app is for Windows. The web cockpit with analysis, 3D workspace and pit wall, on the other hand, runs on any device in the browser — phone included.

Yes, fully: every lap is stored locally first, and overlays and co-driver run without a network. Offline-first means: no data loss when the connection drops — the sync transfers later. Community references, leaderboards and live sharing naturally need a network.

Nothing — all 21 widgets are included in the Free plan, permanently. Overlays are the reason to open the app every day; we do not charge money for that.

Drag it by its title bar — the app remembers position and size automatically. On top of that, each widget has controls for size, opacity and whether the title bar stays visible. Every widget can be scaled at its window edges.

Ctrl+Shift+O shows and hides all open widgets at once — even mid-race. Overlays can also automatically appear only while a game is running, and hide when you are not driving (menu, garage, pause). The hotkey always has the last word.

Not unless you want them to: “click-through” makes a widget transparent to the mouse — clicks pass through the widget into the game. Adjustable in the widget manager, per widget.

The radar needs opponent coordinates, and only ACC, AC EVO and Le Mans Ultimate provide them. The “Relative” widget (the field with gaps) is currently fed by LMU only. The app tells you right in the widget instead of letting you guess — and the matrix on the overlay page shows it up front.

Yes — demo mode (“Try it without a sim”) synthesises a complete stint and feeds every widget. That way you check layout and data path before you even start a sim. Demo sessions stay local and feed no statistics.

From real laps of the community: per car and track, references are built as the median over the percentile-nearest laps of different drivers — only from five drivers and thirty laps up. The provenance is always stated (“24 drivers · 310 laps”). Free compares against your own personal best; P50–P99 belong to Pro.

P75 is a percentile level: faster than 75 percent of the drivers' best times on this combination. P50 is midfield, P99 the sharp end — one percent is faster. “Automatic” picks the level just above your pace: not the alien, but a reference that still tells you something.

No — Lapmetry knows no ideal line, and claims none either. Comparison is always against driven laps: your own personal best or a community reference. A driven line can be proven; an “ideal line” would be a claim.

Because such promises add up to lap times nobody drives — and that is exactly what credibility dies of. Lapmetry's lap balance instead consists of segments whose sum is by construction exactly the lap delta. Also refused: predicted lap times and a live delta in the race.

Never in braking zones: from your own pedal work Lapmetry computes quiet zones in which no sentence is spoken. Calls are finished before the brake point — if time runs short, the short form comes, and if even that does not fit, the call is dropped without replacement. A call after the brake point would be misinformation.

Yours — all ten languages of the app, through the Windows speech output, offline-capable. Voice quality depends on the installed Windows voices; on Windows 11, “Natural” voices are available in many languages.

One corner per week, with a measurable drill: it only counts as done once the telemetry proves it — no ticking your own box. Done means: consolidation drill plus a new focus corner. Not done means: repeat with a relaxed tolerance. The target travels into the cockpit — the live confirmation measures against exactly this number.

The corner analysis and all why-sentences are computed deterministically from your telemetry — without a language model. Only the optional AI debrief with chat (Pro) uses Claude: it narrates from your computed numbers and never decides. If the data does not answer a question, it says so instead of guessing.

Turn on live broadcast in the desktop app (off by default) — your laps then run live into the pit wall of your account. Delta, track map, traces, tyres, fuel and lap list, built for mobile: one WebSocket, zero polling.

Yes — “Share live link” creates a public spectator page; nobody needs an account there. The link is not guessable (signed token) and blocked for search engines. Spectators see driving data and your display name — nothing more.

Press “Renew link” — every link shared so far loses access. For spectators already connected, the revocation takes effect at the latest when your desktop app next connects.

Small enough for the pit wall: measured, 95 percent of frames stay under 51 milliseconds of server latency; end to end, 150–250 milliseconds are budgeted. Live data is held in memory only — laps are stored only through the normal sync.

Lapmetry installs as a PWA: “Add to home screen”, and the cockpit starts like an app. Push notifications (new personal best, session processed, weekly recap) come after an opt-in — on iPhone from iOS 16.4 in the installed PWA.

The Free plan costs €0 permanently and includes all 21 overlays, your full own telemetry and the coach against your personal best. Pro (€8.99/month or €79/year) adds community references P50–P99, the training plan with drills, the skill radar and the AI debrief. During the beta payments are disabled — every new account runs with full Pro access for 90 days.

Everything about you: your full own telemetry, the 3D workspace, all 21 overlays, the coach against your personal best and live sharing — with one active sim. Each additional sim is a one-time €14.99; Pro includes all four. Free is a plan, not bait: none of it expires.

Any time to the end of the term — in your account or informally by email; the legally required cancellation button is provided. During the beta there is nothing to cancel: payments are disabled, and every new account runs with full Pro access for 90 days. After that it falls back to Free automatically — no silent renewal into a payment.

On sync: lap times, sectors, telemetry channels and learned track maps — never video, screen or microphone. The onboard video in the web cockpit stays a local file in your browser; there is no video upload. Diagnostic logs only go out when you explicitly press “Send diagnostics”.

You decide, in three levels: Public (in the reference pool, without your name), Friends only (with your name) or Private. Community aggregates only come into being from five different drivers; laps of private profiles are only released at all from three contributing drivers. And honestly: with a public profile this is pseudonymisation, not anonymisation — your best time is on the leaderboard under your name, after all.

On Hetzner servers in German data centres, with a data-processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Cloudflare is used only for DNS and transactional mail — web traffic does not run through Cloudflare. TLS via Let's Encrypt.

An informal email to contact@lapmetry.com is enough — the right to erasure under Art. 17 GDPR. On request we hand you your sessions and telemetry in machine-readable form first — and every lap can also be exported as CSV directly in the cockpit at any time.

Yes: the app reads the MoTeC recordings of ACC and Le Mans Ultimate (.ld) and turns them into sessions — including laps driven while Lapmetry was not even running. ACC writes these files on its own; in LMU, telemetry recording has to be switched on in game. Imported laps come without track position and validity marks — neither is in the recording.

The capture reads the sim at around 60 Hz; frame channels are stored at 20 Hz, extra channels like tyres and weather at 5 Hz, the position trace at full rate. The interface shows the true rate of every channel instead of inventing in-between values — 5 Hz channels are drawn as steps with visible sample points.

Lapmetry learns every track from your first clean lap — there are no bundled maps. Learned maps are shared with the community and kept per sim: Monza in LMU and Monza in ACC are measurably different tracks.
